Shruti Hassan’s birth name is Shruti Rajalakshmi Hassan. She was born on 28th Jan 28, 1986 in Chennai, India to noted celebrities Kamal Haasan and Sarika. She has a sister Akshara, a Ballroom dancer.

Shruthi attended “Abacus” in Chennai and St. Andrew’s College in Mumbai. She did her degree in psychology. After her graduation she developed interest for music and went to USA to learn music at the “Musicians Institute”.

When she was just 6, she did her singing debut in “Thevar Magan” in 1992, later she worked for “Chachi 420″, “Hey Ram” with her father.

As her father Kamal Haasan is a well established actor in India it was easy for her to enter the films. She entered the film industry as child artist. She made cameo appearance in “Hey Ram” in 2000. Her film debut in an adult role was in 2009 Bollywood film “Luck” and did very well in the box-office. Her initial successful movies are Anaganaga O Dheerudu, 7aam Arivu and Gabbar Singh.

Her Telugu debut was with “Anaganaga O Dheerudu” 2011, opposite Siddharth and her Tamil debut was with “7aam Arivu” in 2011 along side Surya, the movie went on to be the biggest commercial hit of the year.

Apart from acting She is also involved in music composing and singing. She has great interest in music and took music as her second career, establishing her own music band “The Extramentals”.
